PLO Preflop Chart: Opening Ranges by Position
A printable Pot-Limit Omaha starting hand chart built from PLO+'s solved opening ranges. PLO has no 169-hand grid, so the chart shows how often each of the nine hand classes raises first-in from HJ, CO, BTN, SB in a 6-max cash game at 100bb and 50bb. At 100bb the hijack opens 22% of hands and the button 50%; which hands make the cut is decided by pairing and suitedness, not card rank.

How to read the PLO chart
- Find your hand's class. Count your pairs (two pair, one pair, none) and your suits (double-suited: two suits of two cards each; single-suited: exactly two cards share a suit; rainbow: no two cards share a suit). That is your row.
- Find your position. That is your column. The header shows how much of the whole deck that seat opens.
- Read the cell as a frequency. Double-suited two pair at 96.2% from the hijack means almost every hand in the class is a raise. A mid-range cell means the class is split: the connected, high-card versions raise and the disconnected, low versions fold. The nine hand classes ranked walks through what separates them.
- Move across, not just down. Every class opens more often as you move toward the button, and the suit premium is the biggest single factor: compare the double-suited and rainbow rows in any column. The suit premium page quantifies it.
The chart is a raise-or-fold tree with no limping. It is also a snapshot of one site's rake and structure; PLO+ carries the full range for every hand inside each class, so use it when a cell says "sometimes" and you need to know whether your exact four cards qualify.
What changes when someone has already opened
The opening chart stops applying the moment a player raises in front of you. Your decision becomes 3-bet, call or fold, and the continuing range is a fraction of the open range because you now need a hand that plays well against a real range, often out of position. In PLO+'s 100bb 6-max tree, the big blind facing a button open 3-bets 9% and calls 30%, the small blind facing a button open 3-bets 9% and calls 3%, the big blind facing a cutoff open 3-bets 7% and calls 21%.
PLO preflop chart FAQ
What is a PLO preflop chart, and why is it not a 13 by 13 grid?
Hold'em has 169 starting hands, so a 13 by 13 grid works. Pot-Limit Omaha has 16,432 distinct four-card starting hands, far too many for a grid, so a PLO starting hand chart groups them by what actually drives preflop value: pairing (two pair, one pair, unpaired) and suitedness (double-suited, single-suited, rainbow). This chart shows how often PLO+ raises each of those nine classes from each position.
What are the best PLO hands preflop?
Double-suited two-pair hands. At 100bb they open 96.2% from the hijack and 100% from the button, the highest of any class. Within a class, high, connected cards (AAKK and AKQJ double-suited, for example) are the premiums, because they make the nut flushes, nut straights and top sets that win big pots in Omaha.
How wide should I open in PLO by position?
At 100bb 6-max, PLO+ opens 22% of hands from the hijack, 30% from the cutoff, 50% from the button and 40% from the small blind (a raise-or-fold spot in this tree). Those are much wider than Hold'em in late position because four-card hands run closer in equity, so position is worth more than raw hand strength.
How do PLO ranges change at 50bb?
They tighten in every seat except the small blind. The button drops from 50% at 100bb to 36% at 50bb and the hijack from 22% to 19%, while the small blind opens 47% at 50bb against 40% at 100bb. Shallower stacks reduce the implied odds that speculative single-suited and rainbow hands rely on, but they also make a blind-vs-blind raise more attractive.
What changes when someone has already opened?
Your range splits into 3-bet, call and fold, and it gets much narrower. Big Blind vs a Button open 3-bets 9%, calls 30% and folds 61%; Small Blind vs a Button open 3-bets 9%, calls 3% and folds 88%; Big Blind vs a Cutoff open 3-bets 7%, calls 21% and folds 72%. The 3-bets are dominated by double-suited two-pair hands; the calls are the playable suited hands that want to see a flop in position or close the action.
