What is a poker range calculator?

A poker range calculator is a free tool that lets you build a hand range on a 13x13 grid, convert it to and from standard range notation, and compare two ranges against each other to see the exact combinations and equity. Instead of thinking about one hand, you think about every hand a player can hold, which is how strong players actually make decisions. How to use the range calculator

• Build a range: click or drag cells on the grid, or type notation like 22+, ATs+, KQs, AQo+ into the box. The grid and the text stay in sync both ways, so it doubles as a range converter.
• Weight hands for mixed strategies: drag the brush weight slider to a value like 50%, then click cells to include them at that frequency. A partly filled cell shows its weight, and the combos and equity update to match, so you can model spots where a hand is only played some of the time.
• Read the combinatorics: every range shows its total combos, its percentage of all 1,326 starting hands, and a breakdown by hand type or, once you add a board, by made hand and draw.
• Compare two ranges: fill Range A and Range B, add a flop, turn, or river, and hit Calculate to get the head-to-head equity.

Range notation, explained

Standard notation is compact. A plus sign means "and better," so TT+ is every pair from tens up, and ATs+ is A-Ten suited through A-King suited. A dash gives a span, like A5s-A2s. The letter s means suited and o means offsuit. Paste a range straight from a solver and the calculator will parse it. Can I calculate range vs range equity?

Yes. Build both ranges, optionally add a board, and press Calculate. The tool runs the matchup combo by combo and returns each range's equity, using exact enumeration on later streets and fast Monte Carlo when the tree is large.

Do I need a board to use it?

No board is needed to build ranges, convert notation, or count combos. To calculate range vs range equity you add at least a flop, since equity is evaluated from the community cards; the tool then runs the turn and river to come.

What does the percentage next to a range mean?

It is the share of all 1,326 possible starting-hand combinations your range contains. A 15% range holds about 199 combos out of 1,326.

Can I weight hands for mixed strategies?

Yes. Set the brush weight slider to any value, then click cells to include those hands at that frequency, for example 50% of AA or 25% of K7s. Weighted hands are written into the notation as AA:0.5, and the combos and equity account for the partial frequency.

Can I convert a range to notation and back?

Yes. Anything you click on the grid is written out as notation you can copy, and any notation you paste fills the grid, so the tool is a two-way range converter.
